Chili-Cheese Sausage Squares

Brother Ken is sharing a series of sermons from
1 John. This is a wonderful book! Here was my favorite verse from today's message:

1 John 3a
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!
And that is what we are!

How incredible! God has shown Christians His great love in allowing us to be called “his children” and that is not just what we are called,
but what we are!

I carried these to Sunday School today. I hadn't made these little squares in ages!
I really forgot how good they are!

These squares are very moist and tasty! You can omit the green chilies, if you like! We like them both ways! Although these are great for breakfast, they make a great appetizer for anytime of day!

1½ cups baking mix
1 cup milk
4 tablespoons mayonnaise, divided
1 pound pork sausage, browned and drained
1 egg
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 (4-ounce) can chopped green chilies

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9x13-inch dish with cooking spray.
Combine baking mix with milk and 2 tablespoons of the mayonnaise; pour into prepared dish. Batter will be relatively thin.
Sprinkle sausage over batter.
Beat egg with remaining mayonnaise, cheese and chilies.
Spread over sausage.
Bake for about 20 – 25 minutes, or until done and golden brown.
Cut into squares and serve.
