Restaurant Review: La Baguette

Tuna Salad on Croissant and Chocolate Eclair Larry took Aunt Jean to Memphis to the doctor today. They brought back a late lunch from La Baguette for all of us. A sweet co-worker of Larry's, Mrs. Elizabeth S., recommended La Baguette to us over 20 years ago, and we continue to eat there to this day. It is a neat little pastry/sandwich shop on Poplar. They have a great assortment of fresh baked breads, muffins, pastries, sandwiches and salads. We all had a croissant sandwich. Aunt Jean and Dude both ate chicken salad. Logan had tuna salad. M.C. had ham and Swiss, and Larry and I had pimento and cheese. Y'all know I'm not gonna pass up some good pimento and cheese!! Dirty's All-Natural Potato Chips They serve Dirty's All-Natural Potato Chips , which are yummy!! Since we ate a late lunch, we all just ate a small bite of leftovers for supper. If you in Memphis and looking for a quite little place for lunch, give La Baguette a try!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bread

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bread This week I'll continue to share recipes with the combination of peanut butter and chocolate. This is more of a bread than a dessert, but it's really good for breakfast, dessert or a snack! This recipe will make two large loaves or several small ones. I made one large and three small. We ate one small loaf and shared the rest! Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bread 3 c. flour 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 6 tablespoons butter, softened 1 1/2 cups chunky peanut butter 1 cup packed light brown sugar 2 eggs 1 1/4 cups buttermilk 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips (You can use a combination of chocolate chips and peanut butter chips) Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside. With an electric mixer, cream together butter, peanut butter and the brown sugar; add the eggs one at a time. Add the buttermilk; mix well. Add the flour mixture, mixing until it is just combi

Pizza Pot Pie

I accomplished a few things in the kitchen yesterday. I browned and froze four pounds of sausage, and I chopped and froze a turkey breast Aunt Jean cooked for us. Last week I cooked and froze five pounds of chicken. I hope to brown several pounds of ground beef today. All this will give me a nice little stash of pre-cooked meats in my freezer before we start back with our school work next week. I think I've mentioned a time or two, or maybe more like - twenty, that pre-cooking and freezing meats is the best meal planning tool I've found! On Monday night, Logan and M.C. ate supper with Aunt Jean, and Larry, Dude and I polished off the last of the pot luck leftovers from Saturday night! Larry had taken Dude to the doctor in Memphis on Monday, and they stopped by at had a yummy lunch at Corky's after Dude's appointment! We all love Corky's! Their frozen bbq, which is available in most grocery stores' freezer sections, makes a great, quick meal! I love their sau
