Praline-topped Brownies

As the name implies, this dessert is a basically a brownie topped with a praline. Very rich! And, very good!

Prepare a 9x13-inch pan of brownies, according to package directions, using “cake-like” instructions. Cool.


Icing:

2  cups  firmly packed light brown sugar
2/3 cup half-and-half, evaporated milk or whipping cream
½ cup  butter
2  cups sifted powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups coarsely chopped pecans, toasted

Melt butter in a 3-quart saucepan. Add brown sugar and half-and-half and bring to a boil: stir often. Boil for 1 minute.
Remove from heat; whisk in sifted powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
Add toasted pecans.
Stir gently until mixture begins to cool and slightly thicken.
Pour over brownies.
Cool brownies completely and cut into squares.
