Award

A couple of you sweet blogging friends presented me with awards while I was with my dad, during his illness. I am sorry that I missed playing along at the time. I truly appreciated your thinking of me!

My friend, Emily, just presented me with this award! Emily is a sweet sister-in-Christ and blogging buddy. I look forward to meeting her in person one day, if not on this side of Heaven, then on the other!
Emily is a fellow foodie and has tons of great recipes on her site, Marvelous Recipes! One of the nicest things about Emily is that she is such an encourager of other foodie bloggers!

Seven Things about Me that You Might Not Know (I am going to make mine food-oriented.)

1. My favorite flavor of jam is strawberry.

2. I prefer crunchy peanut butter to smooth.

3. I can't make a decent homemade pie crust, but it is on my list of things to conquer this year!

4. I also can't make good pancakes, but since Larry can, I'm leaving the pancake making to him!

5. I generally prefer brown gravy to white. I saw Bobby Flay challenge Paula Deen to a country fried steak "Throw-down" the other night on Food Network. Paula won, mainly because she made brown gravy to accompany her country fried steak - like most of us do in the South. Poor Bobby made white gravy for his country fried steak! Oh, my! Who ever heard of such?! ;) Bobby's dish actually looked extremely delicious, of course! He just should have had judges from "up North," not Savannah!

6. I love Chinese food, although I rarely cook it at home.

7. I am not a picky eater! I'll eat almost anything! My one food quirk is not wanting sweet food to touch my non-sweet food on my dinner plate. An example would be: 
While I love sweet potato casserole and congealed salads, I don't want them on the same plate as my meat, veggies and corn bread. If absolutely necessary, such as a shortage of plates at a pot luck, they can be on the same plate - just as long as they doesn't come in contact with each other. But, if at all possible, I put sweet side dishes on a separate plate - just to be sure! Is that weird?

    About MFW.....I think I am going to stick with Sonlight for Leah and Sam, but maybe I can still look at your MFW sometime.

    The coupon binder....yes I figured out that I could fold the coupons to fit in the baseball card holders. I think that is the best option. I have my coupons grouped alphabetically in that binder.... a page per letter, and I have two pages for some letters (C seems to have alot....cleaners, cinnamon rolls, cereal, etc.). So, I need to get my coupons out of that file box and add them to my binder! I am really excited about my savings!

Georgia Cornbread Cake

I clipped this recipe several years ago from American Profile, which is a small magazine insert that come with our local newspaper, The Pontotoc Progress. It is yummy, yummy, yummy!  I love the story that accompanied the recipe and was delighted when a Google searched turned up the same article on the web! Dough Burgers

  Dough Burgers Dough burgers are popular in our neck of the woods. Phillips Grocery in Oxford has received national acclaim for their top-secret-recipe dough burger. I ate two while I was staying at the hospital with my dad recently! It is the nearest restaurant!  When Larry and I were newlyweds and living in New Albany, we loved going to Latham’s for their yummy version of this delicious sandwich. Several other area cities also offer well-known versions of this unique burger.
